Ski Resorts There are three resorts within easy reach of the house, each of them about 30-40Kms away. Ceretto Laghi is the largest with 7 runs and a fair sized resort with hotels, restaurants and shops. Zum Zeri, the other side of Pontremoli is good for children and beginners, while the smallest is Prato Spilla on the road above Licciana Nardi. Ski hire and lift passes are cheap in all these resorts, but be warned you won’t normally find English speaking ski instructors. You will most likely need snow chains to get to any of these from January to March as they are all around 2,000 metres or 6,000 feet above sea level. As these are relatively not that high in Alpine terms February is the best time for skiing and the season does note really start until after the New Year.
